Chapter 18: Zombie Animals

ntie Zhen could only get an upstairs room, and that was because the person who had reserved it hadn't arrived yet. The innkeeper only gave it to them then. After washing away the dust and fatigue of th..."Cough, we saw it!"

Eagle Wing coughed lightly and said.

As everyone saw, besides admiring Wu Lianyi's boldness, we also admire her courage. She dared to venture deep into the zombie horde all by herself.

"There's also credit due to Captain Eaglewing and Sun Wang. If it weren't for the first wave of attacks damaging that evolved zombie, I wouldn't have succeeded so easily."

Wu Lianyi frankly said that she didn't even bother to take sole credit for such a small accomplishment.

"We're just here to assist. The real credit goes to you."

"That's great! Now that the leaderless evolved zombie is gone, the horde is disorganized and vulnerable. It's the best time to strike."

Wu Lianyi casually mentioned it.

"The command center is planning this way. They are now evacuating people who are stranded nearby, and some are going to the agricultural market area to gather supplies. Once you and Sun Wang's abilities recover, go there to take care of and look for the supply-gathering team."

Eagle Wing arranged this himself, it's a relatively easy task compared to facing zombies head-on. The other ability users who are currently resting can only envy them, but no one dares to be jealous. After all, Eagle Wing has the guts to go solo into a horde of zombies, taking down even an evolved zombie and coming back safe and sound. They aren't capable of doing that yet.

"Okay, no problem!"

Wu Lianyi wasn't being emotional either. This time, her purpose was to fix that bug, and now the task was complete, so she felt relaxed and at ease.

She immediately pretended to take a new black mask from her waist pouch, actually taking it out of her spatial storage. She also grabbed three chocolate bars, tossing one each to Sun Wang and Yingyi, and ate one herself to replenish her energy. After that, she didn't waste any time and directly got into another car, completing her escort mission.

Eaglewing was fed, a little embarrassed. Chocolate is good stuff, just about to thank them, the two people had already skillfully gotten out of the car and climbed onto the truck carrying supplies.

“If only I could work with people like this on every mission! They’re not just skilled, they’re also obedient and have amazing execution.”

Even the deputy captain on the side couldn't help but sigh with emotion.

On the other side, Wu Lianyi and Sun Wang got in the car. After only fifteen minutes, they arrived at the largest agricultural market on the outskirts. As soon as the car stopped, the little warriors inside quickly jumped out of the car and started moving the remaining supplies from the storefront at the entrance.

This is the largest wholesale market for agricultural and sideline products on the outskirts of the city. It has everything you could possibly need: rice, flour, cooking oil, salt, soy sauce, vinegar, tea, various seasonings, dried goods, fruits, vegetables, and even frozen beef, mutton, and seafood in its cold storage facilities.

With less than a month before the apocalypse, most people stayed indoors with their remaining supplies, unwilling to risk venturing out. However, some forward-thinking individuals dared to search for food. This place had also been raided, so some shop windows were open and the shelves were ransacked.

But the deeper you go into the market, the better the shop fronts are preserved. They're far from the exit, and besides, there are zombies wandering around inside. Ordinary people wouldn't dare venture in; if they did get trapped, they'd be done for.

These zombies are child's play for a scavenging team because since the apocalypse erupted at midnight, the farmer's market has been closed. There are only long-haul trucks delivering goods at night and stores receiving them, at most plus the security guards of the farmer's market and part-time workers, no more than three hundred people.

The combat squad finished the operation in less than half an hour, and they didn't cause much of a stir. The team members immediately began to transport the supplies inside, with a few remaining on guard duty in case any stragglers needed to be dealt with.

Wu Lianyi and Sun Wang were both bold and skilled. Wu directly greeted the captain of the logistics team and plunged into the depths of the agricultural market, a place they hadn't yet explored.

The squad leader knew both of their abilities, so he gave them a walkie-talkie and let them move freely.

"A while later, her eyes lit up a bit, and she started packing things herself."

Wu Lianyi reminded her younger brother who was looking around.

"Don't worry, Sister Ripple, I know!"

Sun Wang immediately replied, patting the empty backpack on his back, "This is what I found at the shop."

Wu Lianyi wanted to buy some meat and seafood. Although she had scoured an entire shopping mall, she didn't touch the warehouse stock. This time, she went straight to the warehouse; she was definitely going to treat herself.

As one warehouse after another was opened, the two of them discovered many good things. Wu Lianyi didn't treat herself badly either. While Sun Wang wasn't looking, she took some of all kinds of supplies.

During this period, all the zombies that emerged were killed by Sun Wang, who relied on his speed. This not only honed his skills but also tempered his abilities.

Suddenly, a black shadow flashed past, faster than Sun Wang. Luckily, Sun Wang was alert enough and accelerated, reaching Wu Lianyi's side the next second.

"Sister Ripples, look what that is!"

Sun Wang was greatly surprised. Right where he had just been standing, a black cat with red eyes was now crouching down.

It's called a black cat because the creature has a pair of erect, feline eyes. Its body is almost skin stretched over bones and gives off a stench of decay, clearly indicating that it's a zombie.

Wu Lianyi's eyes flashed when she saw the zombie cat. She didn't expect zombie animals to appear so soon. This one looked like a wild cat that had been zombified.

Because farmers' markets are full of food, nearby stray cats and dogs often come here to forage.

"Sun Wang, here you go. See if your speed is faster or its speed! Don't let me down!"

Wu Lianyi directly pushed Sun Wang forward to deal with the zombie cat. She then picked up the walkie-talkie and began transmitting messages, alerting the search team about the zombie animals and informing them of the most obvious sign: a pair of red eyes.

No sooner had her words fallen than the search party encountered zombie dogs, and not just one or two. It was most likely because they had killed zombies, removing the threat to these zombie dogs, while their flesh was a deadly temptation for them.

This zombie cat is very clever. Although it was fighting against Sun Wang, it slowly approached Wu Lianyi who was watching the commotion. When it was knocked back for the third time, it directly used its flying inertia to scratch Lianyi's chest with its sharp claws.

This trick wasn't enough for Wu Lianyi. She overlaid Lei Xie's ability onto her hand, crouched down, and grabbed the zombie cat's tail with a lightning-covered hand.

"Crackling purple lightning accompanied the moans of the zombie cat, making Sun Wang shiver."

"Sun Wang!"

Wu Lianyi directly greeted with a shout, throwing the zombie cat over. Sun Wang was quick-witted and, before the zombie cat could recover from the electric shock, he drew his sword and chopped it down.

A seed, the size of a red peanut, fell from the split skull of the zombie cat and landed at Sun Wang's feet. He immediately picked it up.etty serious, Miss. Shouldn't you go and greet them""I understand. You do what you need to do. When they arrive, lead them into the house, offer them good tea, and tell them I'm in the fields. The res...
